Authentication, Alignment, Attestation and Recognition Service
Recognition of foreign vocational and professional qualifications

This service, provided by the National Recognition Information Centre for the United Kingdom (UK NARIC), compares your vocational or professional qualifications to UAE qualifications, and a QFEmirates level.

It also confirms the authenticity of your qualification.

Having your qualifications recognised supports your applications for work or further study in the UAE.

This service is the first step towards obtaining official recognition certification of your vocational and professional qualifications in the UAE from the National Qualifications Authority (NQA).

For more information on UK NARIC’s service, please see here.

Who is it for?

This service is the first step for people who want to evidence the validity and level of their vocational and professional qualifications gained outside the UAE.

UK NARIC’s evaluation report is intended to be used as an online PDF only.

Once you have received your report from us, you will be able to apply for a Certificate of Recognition of a Foreign Vocational Qualification from the NQA. This certificate is issued subject to the NQA’s own service terms and conditions. For more information, please see here.

What are vocational or professional qualifications?

Vocational qualifications teach the knowledge and skills required for a specific area of work. They typically involve practical learning in simulated or real working environments. Examples of vocational qualifications include apprenticeships, certificates and diplomas that train skilled workers, craftsmen, technicians and higher technicians.

Professional qualifications also train people for specific roles, but involve more theoretical and/or academic elements. They are typically issued by bodies with a link to a specific profession, such as Chartered Institutes and Global Associations.

This service is not intended for academic qualifications, or those awarded by higher education institutions, such as Bachelor, Master’s and Doctoral degrees.

Which documents are required?

To provide this service, UK NARIC needs:

  • A copy or scan of your final qualification certificate;
  • A copy or scan of your qualification transcripts (documents from affiliate colleges are accepted);
  • A copy or scan of translations of your documents, if they were not issued in one of these languages originally; and
  • A copy or scan of your Emirates ID, if you have one, or a copy or scan of your signed photo ID so we can verify that your qualification belongs to you.

Additional documents may be requested on a case-by-case basis. You will be notified if you need to submit additional documents to us.

During the application process, you will also have to complete a letter of authorisation to allow us to undertake primary source verification (PSV) of your qualification. This can be done digitally; no download is required.
